GIA (Gemological Institute of America), a nonprofit institute considered the world leader in gem and jewellery education, is conducting a practical five-day programme on diamonds right here in Lucknow starting July 28, 2014. GIA student, Pankaj Johari from BL Pawan Johari & Sons Jewellers in New Delhi says,“GIA has taught me such aspects of diamonds that I was earlier not aware of. I’m now more confident in handling customer queries, smarter in purchasing and selling. Overall, it has helped me increase my customer satisfaction and trust level.”
Students in GIA’s Diamond Grading Lab Class work with real diamonds and professional Gemmological tools to uncover the fascinating world inside these gems. The class teaches both technical and practical ways to observe and evaluate diamond quality, and the basics of the famous 4Cs (colour, cut, clarity and carat weight), an evaluation system created by GIA. Students also learn how the 4Cs can affect value and about the ways in which diamond treatments can affect the appearance of a stone.
Taught by experienced and qualified GIA instructors, the course is ideal for hobbyists, jewellery enthusiasts, connoisseurs, students and working professionals interested in diamonds. The programme starts July 28,2014 in Lucknow.
